Pearl Thusi goes public again about the hate she’s received for being light-skinned, and it got her burst into tears while interviewing Khanyi Mbau on Behind The Story on BET.
“Because they’re light-skinned that’s why they’re where they’re . Yes, there are privileges, but let’s also shop around who’s giving those privileges to them and why they exist within the first place.
“You can’t take those people because they’re easy to abuse and that they ’re in your community and that they are accessible and they say, ‘Yes because you’re light-skinned she thinks she’s better’. No, let’s return to the source on why we’ve an psychological state and why we glance different and why we are the way we are.”
Pearl said she works hard for her success, which isn’t influenced by her complexion . Hence, she needs people to let her live her life, as she can’t change her colour.

I can’t believe that Pearl is sitting there crying to a black woman who’s had her skin bleached because she wanted society to treat her better about how colourism does not exist 💀 https://t.co/VXznKr8Q44

What pearl dis is absolutely unprofessional tbh. As a host you can’t hijack someone’s episode like that.

Pearl Thusi simply refuses to be reflexive and engage with other people's reality without centering herself. If she's crying about being asked to be sensitive about colourism, what must dark skinned women who have a whole system against them do about her privileged tears?
