After a video of a 21-year-old mother and her 19-year-old companion who supposedly recorded themselves urging a little child to drink alcohol and smoke dagga became a web sensation, the pair were captured and made to confront the court.
The both showed up under the steady gaze of the Dzanani officer's court in Limpopo on Thursday and were conceded bail.
As per police representative Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, they were discharged on bail of R2,000 each.
"They are normal back in court on September 30 2020. The bail conditions are that they can't get to the kid, who has been moved to a position of wellbeing, and ought not meddle with police examinations," said Mojapelo.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said they are confronted with two charges.
"They deal with indictments of negating the Children's Act, 38 of 2005 [child abuse] and contradicting the Disaster Management Act 57 of 2002 [related to alcohol and smoking]," said NPA representative in Limpopo Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.
The ladies were captured a week ago after recordings of their supposed wrongdoing circulated around the web on Social media.
The recordings shows the 21-year old mother allowing her multi year old child dagga and alcohol to expend while the voice of the 19-year-old assistant was heard out of sight, reveling the kid to do as he was told.
Mojapelo said the youngster is no longer under the watchful eye of his mom. He has just been given over to his grandma.
