Hijackers run-off with COVID-19 tests samples in Port Elizabeth

 COVID-19 A courier truck transporting test samples for the National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) was hijacked in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape premier.

Oscar Mabuyane confirmed it using his weekly media briefing on Tuesday to condemn the criminal activity that happened on Monday, 20th of July.

“Yesterday we received reports that a courier vehicle transporting Covid-19 specimens for the NHLS was hijacked in Port Elizabeth and criminals who did this took a white container with the specimens,” he said. “We condemn this act of criminality, which puts the lives of individuals in danger .”

He has appealed to the overall public that anyone who finds a white cooler box must report back to the police.

Although, the police haven't been ready to confirm the newest incident at the time of writing but, this is often not the primary time there'll be issues with the Covid-19 kits. In June, many kits labeled as urgent were found dumped by the roadside within the Eastern Cape.
