“Dinner At Somizi’s” to continue despite theft allegation

Somizi Somizi has been trending on social media for hours following the allegation that he stole the concept of his show, “Dinner At Somizi’s”.

The show which recently kicks off in July has had many South African celebrities thereon .

The show may be a cooking show but many beans has been spilled because the guests on his show confirm they mention things most of their fans don’t realize .

Some of which are the likes of Pearl Thusi, DJ Zinhle, Jub Jub, Lerato Kganyago, Rami Chuene, Rebecca Malo, Zahara among others.

Many have shown their disappointment towards the star while others still can’t believe the news is true.

MultiChoice has confirmed that they're conscious of the allegations that are leveled against the show and have reached bent Hastings Moeng.

“When content is commissioned from producers, as during this case, MultiChoice obtains undertakings that each one property rights in reference to the show are cleared. We reached bent Mr Moeng every week ago to debate the matter and that we await his response,” MultiChoice spokesperson Benedict Maaga told Sowetan.

Maaga added the remaining episodes of the show will still be aired following the allegations.

“We also are engaging the show’s producer. This claim won't impact on the airing of the remaining episodes of the show.”

Reports emerged on Wednesday that the brain behind the show Hastings Moeng, sent an email to Somizi and Themba on July 28, 2014, proposing a cooking show Dinner Kwa Somizi.

“On 28 July 2014, Hastings Moeng proposed DinnerAtSomizis to Somizi & Themba. the outline of the show is materially almost like the one now flighted (to the shock of Mr Moeng). See the 2014 email below and choose for yourself,” shared Eusebius McKaiser on Twitter.

The show’s producer Legend told the Sowetan that, “We are aware of this and have taken things through our legal team.”

However, Somizi is yet to respond to this allegation but many of his fans are wondering if the allegation is true or not.
